Èé½»ÊÓƵ is delighted to welcome Mrs Kia Sheidow to the role of Head of Middle School.

20 January 2021

Mrs Sheidow was until recently Head of Middle School at Seymour College and prior to that, Head of Middle School at Woodcroft College. During her years at Woodcroft College, Mrs Sheidow also fulfilled the role of Acting Deputy Principal.

In addition to her success as a Head of Middle School, Mrs Sheidow brings many proven strengths and experiences to her new role at Èé½»ÊÓƵ. She is currently completing a Master of Education Studies (Innovation and Change). She is an excellent Design and Technology teacher across Australian Curriculum, IB and SACE and blazed a trail with a number of female colleagues in the early 1990s to teach in the traditionally male-dominated school curriculum area of Technology. As well as extensive curriculum, teaching, pastoral care, and management experience in Middle School settings, Mrs Sheidow is a Nationally Accredited Assessor in Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL) and can certify and assess teachers in the Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher level. Mrs Sheidow is actively engaged in professional associations and, from time to time, specialist committee work including the Adolescence Success National Committee where she currently holds the office of Communications Manager. She is a member of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders and was Chair of the Responding to Early Adolescent Learners Reference Group, REAL in 2015-17.

In 2019, Mrs Sheidow won the Adolescent Success – Middle Years Leader of the Year National Award.

In co-curricular pursuits Mrs Sheidow has quite a resume! She played softball and lacrosse at state level and made the Australian squad in softball, as well as having played netball at club level. She holds Australian Sports Commission and South Australian Sports Institute coaching certification for all those sports. She was made a life member of the Independent Girls’ School Sports Association in 2009, in recognition for her service to girls’ sport in the state.

With all this incredible experience and with a firm desire to build positive relationships with all in the Èé½»ÊÓƵ Èé½»ÊÓƵ, she is an excellent fit for her role as leader of our Middle School.
