At Èé½»ÊÓƵ, we place each student at the heart of everything we do.

Our Learning and Caring Framework upholds learning and caring as core to student development as we believe in the holistic education of young people.

This student-centred framework has been devised through an extensive consultative and collaborative process as part of our Strategic Plan 2030 – Stronger Together. Each element is an important piece of the whole, interconnected and inseparable from the others. All are bound by our School Aims, Values and Vision, Student Charters, Graduate Qualities and School Motto.

The framework unfolds the learning and caring bands into key domains to ensure our approach is both nuanced and far-reaching.

Èé½»ÊÓƵ Learning and Caring Framework RGB 01

Learning

Disciplinary Learning

A Èé½»ÊÓƵ education provides breadth through the range of learning experiences, while depth is achieved through focused study of the disciplines. Across The Arts, English, Health & Physical Education, Humanities, Languages, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Èé½»ÊÓƵ offers well-established sequences of learning which are monitored, adapted, redesigned and tracked to ensure they meet our students’ needs.

Interdisciplinary Learning

We believe in the importance of students seeing learning as interconnected – between, across and beyond the disciplines. We recognise that while the disciplines are needed for depth of knowledge and understanding, interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary learning are essential for the transfer of such knowledge and understanding in order to effectively find solutions to big problems

Cultural Learning

At Èé½»ÊÓƵ, we recognise that culture is an expression of identity and shapes the ways in which students see themselves and others, influencing how they act and communicate, and how they perceive and interact with the wider world. Cultural learning takes place within the Èé½»ÊÓƵ Èé½»ÊÓƵ and beyond as we take our egalitarian spirit to the world through our focus on international mindedness.

Futures and Enterprise Learning

We believe that Futures and Enterprise Learning is an essential part of a holistic education from ELC to 12, developing curious and resilient citizens who can make meaningful contributions to their local, national and international communities. At Èé½»ÊÓƵ, these opportunities abound both within and outside of the formal curriculum.

Service and Leadership Learning

Service and leadership are inextricably linked as leadership is, at its heart, an act of service. At Èé½»ÊÓƵ, leadership is not just a badge to be worn with pride, it is an innate sense of purpose characterised by a willingness to serve. Service and Leadership Learning takes place within the Èé½»ÊÓƵ Èé½»ÊÓƵ, within the wider local Èé½»ÊÓƵ and within the world around us.

Experiential and Play-Based Learning

Experiential learning is learning ‘by doing’, by taking students out of the classroom and encouraging them to engage with the natural world and the wider Èé½»ÊÓƵ. Play-based learning takes place while students are at play, as they make sense of the world through their interactions with others and their environment, particularly when guided by a teacher. Authentic Experiential and Play-Based Learning is a key ingredient of a Èé½»ÊÓƵ education.

Caring

Connected Care

We prioritise connection as we understand that a strong sense of belonging is created through connecting with a range of people across different age groups and activities during the schooling experience. This includes significant transition points, positive participation in subjects and co-curricular activities, preparing for camps and encouraging involvement in leadership opportunities.

Community Care

At Èé½»ÊÓƵ, our programs are enriched by strong connections with the wider Èé½»ÊÓƵ. Our own Èé½»ÊÓƵ of students, staff and parents flourishes most when all members feel connected to our shared Vision, Values and Aims. We offer trips, exchanges and experiential learning opportunities to provide young people with a well-rounded education and a deep understanding of themselves and others.

Academic Care

The link between high quality teaching and learning experiences and positive student outcomes is at the core of our approach. These outcomes encompass academic, social, emotional and physical development. We prioritise authentic and inclusive student experiences through a pedagogy of care, thoughtful curriculum design, promotion of ethical considerations, safe learning environments, and personal interaction with experienced, skilled teachers and pastoral carers.

Ethical and Spiritual Care

We believe in spiritual exploration, acceptance of all faiths and none, while deliberately seeking to identify the thread that connects all histories, societies and cultures. Our partnership with the Abraham Institute, a leader in interfaith dialogue, enables us to engage Middle and Senior School students with speakers from diverse faiths during regular Chapel Services, while our collaboration with The Ethics Centre is emerging in our Junior School.

Boarding Care

Boarding is a unique opportunity to live in a diverse and dynamic Èé½»ÊÓƵ. We believe in the cultivation of a boarding village as a sanctuary for those students who call Èé½»ÊÓƵ home. We provide outstanding care for Years 7 to 12 Boarding students from around Australia and the world who access our broad range of academic and co-curricular opportunities in an atmosphere that is friendly, supportive and safe.

Specialised Care

Èé½»ÊÓƵ is dedicated to nurturing the wellbeing of each student, recognising that thriving socially, emotionally and physically is as important as academic success. Èé½»ÊÓƵ provides universal supports designed to promote mental health and wellbeing for all students. Our Wellbeing Team works across ELC to Year 12 and is available to support each student’s journey, offering resources and personalised assistance.
